Swords and Lasers (Sci Fi stuff)
« on: August 28, 2019, 02:23:09 PM »
I've a ton of sci fi stuff painted and to paint. So I thought it might be nice to put up here. Its a varied mixture of 40k (everyone has some 40k), mechs, multiple skirmish bits and other franchises.

First up is the standard for every Sci Fi fan, Space Marines.

In this case the chapter is the little known Death Strike marines. I'm a big fan of Oldhammer (more for the miniature aesthetic then the rules) and the Imperium is really good for that, venerating ancient tech and all.

Heres a Librarian, a tactical squad, a scout squad, a  Razorback and a Dreadnought

So it started off as "Damn those mongoose Dredd robots are cool" but then kind of extrapolated outwards from "I'll just collect a few to paint"  into full sized skirmish gang. The miniatures also moved from just the Mongoose 'bots to also include North Star Rogue Stars and Paranoia minis.

The Terminator Genisys game is a hidden gem. The rules are VERY fun, albeit skirmish/waband scale despite the rules allowing MBTs etc. What didn't help it was its mediocre movie (the licence was explicitly for Genisys which thankfully encompasses T1 and T2 so you get a majority of the franchises more iconic stuff) and the so-so plastics. The metals are ok but the resins are badly designed from a consumer standpoint (for the same or more money I can get the exact model and another in metal) and are also barely ever in stock.

Still, the game is great and the plastics are ok if your not too focused on high detail.

Anyway heres my Skynet forces, led by a Reaper Bones mosel painted to look like a T-1000

Botwars a really neat game, with great models all done by a one man business, I'd highly suggest looking into them. They paint up really easy as well.

Heres some more Bot War. Was going for a Lex Luthor kind of colour scheme. Speaking of comic books I also finished  up some Heroclix AIM miniatures (in Hydra colours funnily enough) as goons for Fistful of Lead.

Bot War models are finally done ! Trying to go for colour schemes patterned after Transformer Seekers.

Also as a big fan of Kaiju I'm enjoying Monsterpocalypse even if its got little traction in my area (Uk privateer press scene isnt great atm afaik) with my fully completed Defender X (Human faction monster) patterned after Batman (with the next two being painted in Superman and Wonder Woman schemes).

I wanted to paint something a bit different so dug out some ancient Pendraken 10mm Sci Fi bits. I'm not usually a 10mm guy and have no damn clue what to use them for, but they were simple enough to paint up and take contrast quite well.

Cool! You have quite a painting line going!  8)

I like the varied paintjobs, they all revive a bit of that Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia.

A far ranging collection! Do you ever get them on the table at the same time? I really like those Botwars figs. Warms my Gen-X nostalgic heart! :)

Even if I don't get to game with my lead mountain I'd like to get it painted lol

Sadly no, my gaming group is a tad more traditionalist. Still I try to get "em hooked on something a bit different.

A Cyberpunk Soldier, half Rogue Trooper and Half Colonial Marine. First time I've painted jungle/forest camo and also the first time I'm actually happy with some camo.
