Preview of PSC BTR for NorthAg Battlegroup. 10mm
« on: August 31, 2019, 02:55:21 AM »
A friend just sent this to me.
10mm?
They look good; I’d be tempted to go with 6mm GHQ, who have literally the entire model range already established.

I just want the rules - and CentAg.

Yeah, Piers posted the box covers on Facebook today.

I'm another one hanging out for the rules but not miniatures; I've got more than enough 6mm kit already.

Nice. I don’t do social media.  At all.

Interesting.

Does that mean they are in plastic? **

I have a large number of GHQ, Scotia and H&R in 6mm from the late 'eighties, but if this is a complete range in plastic...

I would neither confirm or deny my presence on social media.

I did have a rather circular conversation with someone who could not get it through their head that when I asked if they had a web site, that telling me they were on Facebook is telling me that they do not have a web site.

On facebook PSC hinted they are plastic or plastic-like resin. I will be blunt, they look nice but having the troops in 6mm and 15mm, makes me literally uninterested in the miniatures (I am coming out... sometimes I get out at morning, look at my cabinets, and think why I need so many troops... probably it is the influence of the three big containers of unpainted lead under the bed...).

The rules interest me, especially if they release the TOE book reasonably soon.  But, I have also decided to not care about them until release,  I need to focus on what I have to paint and play.

I am probably the worst person to comment on this as I don't have the pulse, so to speak, of the Cold War/Moderns market but this seems like a poor choice of scale for PSC.  Seems to me they should keep with 15mm or move down to 6mm.  Don't they already have a Leopard and an M60 in 15mm?  Plus they can piggy-back on other companies like Zvezda and Battlefront or if they move down scale GHQ, C-inC-PFC, etc.  My WW2 collection is happily populated with PSC, Command Decision/Old Glory, Zvezda, and Battlefront.
Just my 2 cents/pence  :)

Is there ANY more information?

Looking forward to what this range puts out. Timescale and Pendraken are both expanding new moderns in 10mm and Victrix are looking at WWII in 10mm (or 12mm ?), so I think there will be a lot of interest in this 10mm range. price will be important, especially for the skirmish end of the hobby who might not need 10 vehicles.

Would love to see how they size up along side other manufacturers '10mm'
The two sample tanks I have recently ordered, from other manufacturers,
although the same tank, differ in size.
One is 7mm longer & 5mm wider than the other!!!!

well 10 BTR are a company... if you do 10mm probably this is what you are looking for, it is also worth to mention that Northag is aimed at larger clashes compared to the original Battlegroup, this fro Piers' own words.

Bascially 10mm is good scale for company up rather than skirmishes.

Actually, 10mm - 12mm (AKA 1/144th scale, or close to that) is a superb choice for those of us who prefer not to have tank/armored vehicle "parking lots" on the game table, with them arrayed tread to tread in order to get them on the table.

1/144th still permits you to use infantry which can actually be seen (1/300th are a bit small for that in my opinion), and the vehicles are a nice size too.

Using this scale, instead of 1/285th - 1/300th permits you to use nicely detailed minis, that are a bit larger than the 6mm ones, and yet still have plenty of room on the tabletop for maneuvering.

It's great to see other companies getting in on this scale, especially with hopefully, well sculpted minis being sold in plastic at an affordable price point.

Revell did that, and others have as well.

I look forward to this scale growing in popularity in the coming years.

PSC has hinted they'd be producing products in this scale, but sadly, there are no additional details or timeline from them, last time I inquired.

Would love to see the M60A1/M60A3 tanks, and the M113 APC in plastic, along with these BTRs, BMP-1s, BRDM-2s, T-64As, etc., etc..

PSC are also noted for their hex based boardgames which combine board and figures. If they have plans for a modern based boardgame, they would have an additional cause to be developing two forces. The new box set may just be a 'dip toe in the water exercise' to sort out tooling issues, test viability and test the market and / or support a new Modern'srule system.

I look forward to seeing where this range leads as I love 10mm and would love to get some 10mm moderns on the table
