WOTR Percy retinue archers
« on: September 11, 2019, 08:23:53 PM »
Good evening all. I am relatively new on here, so thought I would post up some pictures of Percy retinue longbowmen that I have been working on. My goal is to develop a Lion Rampent sized force, based on the Percy-Neville feud, and Exeter and Egremont's failed uprising in the north in the early 50's. This seems to be a period full of potential for smaller actions; raiding and burning mills, manors, taking hostages etc.

Thankfully my brother is working on the Neville supporting opponents, so I am hopeful of finishing the force in a reasonable time frame. Egremont and his mounted knights are halfway to completion, and should follow on soon(ish).

Very smart! Your choice of colours and basing really work well together, it all ties together nicely.

Your retinue looks very nice. I am in the process of painting some northern retinues but I will not match your painting skills.
I haven't decided on what rule set to use yet so am not sure how to base them.

Thanks for the comments folks.
Lion Rampant generally has units of 12 and 6 figures. Another set I've looked at, the Coat of Steel rules by The Perfect Captain is, I think, based on multiples of 3. Bases of 3 figures seemed to be the logical course of action, although there is a base of 2 and 1 to allow for figure removal.
Multi basing also uses up some of the plastic bases the Perry's kindly provide in large quantities in their plastic sets!

First class painting, and the unit as a whole works well together in giving a sense of purpose to it.

Well done.
