My 1745 Project - Cameron of Lochie Regiment
« on: September 11, 2019, 08:09:46 PM »
Finally! After a while and some false starts (those tartans have been difficult to get right!) I have finished my first Highlander unit, Cameron of Lochie regiment. I intend to brigade it with the Atholl's (Lowlanders), which are the next in the pipeline, to take a break from painting tartans.

Units will be 18-models strong, in 3 bases of 60x60mm. Originally, I intended to adapt Beneath the Lily Banners (3rd edition) to the 1745, hence the size of the bases. However, it can be used with other rulesets too.

Models and flags are from Flags of War Jacobite range, by the way (lovely figures, very dinamic and well casted; I can't recommend them enough!)

Picture is not too good, but alas! my photography skills are somewhat lacking!

Fine sculpts with dynamic poses, a beautiful, well painted unit! Cheers!

Down with the Hanoverian rats! (Just finished reading Tom Jones)

Very nicely done.  I have this unit in 15mm and was stuck for the flag until I realised that the flag of Northumbria was identical and readily available.

Great stuff.

If you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism; run a red pen down the white paper line of the flag. I use Derwent Inktense acrylic ink blocks (because they are thin but very opaque - like printing ink), but permanent markers, felt tips or acrylic paint will do the job too.

These are a couple of my paper flags, with the edges suitably coloured. They look less like two sides of folded together paper anymore.

Best Regards and Good Luck with your project,

James

Thanks for the tip, James... Although, in this case is the angle of the photo. It looks much better, in the "paper"  lol
