Historical ladies you'd like to see in miniature?
« on: July 01, 2009, 09:36:43 PM »
So, I'm planning wave 2 for my little company, and I'm determined to have a woman in the Champions of History range this time round. So far we've considered several personalities and/or fictional characters: Amelia Earhardt, Cleopatra, Boudicca, Joan of Arc, Rosie the Riveter, Mata Hari, Deborah, the Trung Sisters, etc.

Was wondering who -you'd- like to see. If you had just one woman in all of history that you could have in 28mm for wargaming/roleplaying purposes, who would it be? I'd be very interested to see your thoughts on this. No promises, but it sure will help to even the list a bit in favor of women. And yeah, any of the above choices are fair game. Just trying to broaden the possibilities a bit. Multiple suggestions are fine, too.

Trung Sisters would be cool. What about Empress Irene, Maria Theresia or opposed to wargaming Bertha von Suttner?

Tzu Hsi the Empress Dowager, Amelia Earhart, Mata Hari

Plenty of fictional options spring to mind but struggling for historical ones :?

In addition to the excellent selection of ladies already named (particularly Mata Hari), I suggest Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie...

How about somebody dressed like Her Highness, Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia?

I'd love to have a Queen victoria (Gawd bless 'Er!), sculpted to the correct height for 28mm and not carrying any offensive weaponry.

I'd also like to have a Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia model. No idea how she'd fit into a game, but that hussar uniform is splendid!

Marie Antoinette? Florence Nightingale or Mary Seacole?

Mrs Thatcher...preferably being eaten by zombies.....

Or how about Maggie eating a zombie?  lol

Have you seen Eureka's Queen Victoria [the one sculpted by Victoria Lamb?
A little tall but with some more work might be OK!

Some excellent ideas being discussed here, everybody. Thank you. It really helps. As Svenn points out, it's remarkably hard to think of some of the historical ladies who deserve coverage - probably the fault of various attempts to re-write history over the years in our collective educational experience.

It seems a lot of folks do want Viktoria Louise... she's shown up in other discussions here too. I hadn't thought of her, but the uniform is pretty nifty, I'll grant you that.

Keep 'em coming, guys. I'm really grateful.
