Asian-style goblin archer miniatures?
« on: September 12, 2019, 12:05:08 AM »
Hi folks. Anyone know a good source for 28mm goblin archer minis that have a bit of an Asian-style flair to them? Or at least, aren't obviously European? (i.e wearing European style armour, clothing, etc).

I've been searching different ranges for a while now to add to my old Clan War Shadowlands mini collection and have failed to come up with anything other than Goblin Factory unarmoured archers. They're only wearing loincloths, so that works, but they're about half the size of my other goblin minis. Just doesn't look right.

Phil Hynes did some Asiatic Steppes-style goblins last year, similar to the old Giaks. I can't remember if he released them himself or they were being sold by another company.

It's probably not helpful, but Rakham (Confrontation) did some Japanese themed goblins decades ago.

Alternative Armies have the old Fantasy Warlord range which have some Eastern Orcs, which are small orcs so might do.

That's them! He said he's making a leader on a wolf as well to go with them.

The old Leviathan range, which is still sold by Scotia Grendel, have a more Mongol style to them. Unfortunately the pictures are tiny and bad...

Assuming Sans Detour can deliver the Kickstarter this year or early next.... which is looks like they might actually do (against all odds)... They are planning to offer several of these sculpts for sale in a faction box... in Metal.

Hello folks.
I'm the person who Philip Hynes is sculpting for. Outlaw studio miniatures can confirm that Philip is presently sculpting a figure mtd on a wolf to go along with the goblins within the range.
We also have 6 trolls soon to be available.
And the start of a dwarf range.hoka hey/timeline are the distributors at the moment.
There will be a new outlaw studio miniatures page coming up on Facebook very soon. As the last Facebook account that ran the page got hacked and can no longer be accessed by myself to up date.
Thank you very much for sharing the photos of my figures range on this page. Do feel free to ask any questions on the future releases planned.
Regards
Dale

I love this range - so characterful! But the archers are a little... Looney Tunes/cartoony?

Dixon have a range of Japanese goblins, oni and dai-oni.
The goblins with bows don't have pictures but a few of the other goblins do.

Mirliton do eastern Hobgoblins.  I don't know how big these are. There might also be too much Hob for your goblins  lol

Those are the old Nick Lund Grenadier sculpts.  About human sized and fairly bulky in 28mm scale, or at least what 28mm was around 1984-ish.  Good hobgobs, but too big for what I think of a regular goblins.  YMMV of course, and they are nice sculpts.
