Looking for 28mm Vauban figure
« on: September 16, 2019, 10:15:05 AM »
Greetings,

Late 17th to early 18th Century is not my usual period, so I have little idea what's available, but I'm searching for a 28mm (or 25mm if need be) character/personality figure or a senior officer figure who looks the part.  Best case scenario would be both mounted and foot versions of the same figure, but that's certainly not a requirement. Sincere thanks in advance for any and all assistance!

P.S.  I'd love for the figure to be wearing a breastplate, as in this portrait of the man:

"We shall see what wisdom lies beneath my madness!"

Ethan,

Have a look at these both by Front Rank the mounted figure has the breast plate the foot figure hasn't but given your skill converting I'm sure you could add one with some putty.

Best wishes

Willie

Be aware that it was the convention, for most of the 18th Century, for senior military officers to be painted in armour to indicate that they had seen active service, but which they would no longer have worn in the field.  For example, the link below is to a portrait of Jeffery Amherst, painted in 1766 by Joshua Reynolds, wearing full cuirassier armour from roughly a century earlier:-

Baron,

Thanks for pointing that out!

Nick,

THAT, my friend, is a fantastic choice that just jumped to the front of the line, and which I will definitely buy.  Many thanks for your reply!

Additional recommendations still appreciated.

Have a look at Crusader Miniatures’ Pirate Range. The chap in the middle looks like a suitable engineer.

Under The Bed had a Vauban figure with a set of siege engineers at a show last December.
