28mm Pacific Islanders - Conversions?
« on: September 16, 2019, 06:15:31 PM »
I am running an RPG game set in a pre-contact Polynesian-style setting, and I'd like to get some miniatures for it. I only know of Eureka, Empress and Pulp Figures Polynesians so far, and was hoping my fellow LAFers might know of a few more options. I was also thinking of getting the FGA: Tribals box because I love me some plastic conversions, but their features look a little South American and their weapons a little primitive.

I suppose my questions boil down to:
- Anyone know of any 28mm figures suitable for Polynesians of various sorts?
- Anyone know of any 28mm heads that would be good for turning FGA: Tribals into Polynesian types?
- Anyone know of any good weapon packs for metal-free Polynesian-style weapons?

My first thought would to visit the Maori ranges. Might also look into Vietnamese hill tribes.  And perhaps some South American natives for conversion.  None will be 'right' but much may be 'close'.

I understand your struggles, have a similar one in 15 mm - though seeking male and female civilians more than warriors.  Well, did, I think I have what I need and will convert.

Yes, Maoris are mostly what I've found so far. I think "close" is all I can hope for at the moment.

Enjoy your conversions, 15mm is a great scale!

Paymaster games do assorted indigenous peoples, which I think include polynesians.
Brigade Games do some for WW2, including some with more archaic weapons

They're nice enough to be mentioned twice, I think =]
