Vietnam LVTP 5 free 3D model (STL) 1:50 scale

Hello, I made a 3D model of a LVTP 5. It is in 1/50 scale. I did it for having it printed in the FabLab of my company. It will complete my small collection. If you are interested, you can use it for any kind of usage. It is a free STL. It is far from perfect and lack many fittings but I found its level of details enough for my usage. Regards.

I got no use for it myself but, it looks good to me. That’s very nice of you to offer it as a free STL files. I think the treadheads on this forum will be thrilled to try it out and make some improvement.
Cheers!

Printed....
0.1mm precision machine.
Next step is adding some extra bits and paint it as a 1/35 model I saw on Missing-Lynks.com site.

Thanks. I am happy with this model too. I find 1:50 is a good scale for all these news 28mm Vietnam war minis.
I have started to add some extra bits to this first print (

)
I am looking forward to see the results of the different printing from others because in my case I will have to sand down a bit to make flanks of the vehicle more smooth.

Me too!
So what's next, after this model and the M76 Otter? Some Brown Water Navy models, maybe?

just downloaded the STL thanks again for your work very appreciated !
I would second the quest for brown water navy ships if that is something you might consider doing!

Hello,
I will stop there my STL prototyping journey: I have my collection to paint now and some display diorama to make.
Me too I don't find everything on the market, even in the STL files databases.
For example I would need for my collection two M88 recovery vehicles, two M109...
And some M133 ACAV and some M50 Ontos on 1/50 scale but for them there are already some brillant models on TAG, Empress or FullMetaMiniatures shops (And I think I read that this last manufacturer will produce some brown river navy items soon).
So I am happy if my STL files could be useful for some of you for your collection. I am looking forward to see your printed and painted models in the LAM forum galleries.
I hope some manufacturers would cast and produce some equivalent models in a near future. (in 1/50 scale if possible)

Good looking model, and very kind of you to make the file available to others.

Here is the printed model I painted (I will add pictures with minis in my gallery later).
Such amtrac could be a nice addition to a diorama or wargame terrain.
I can see that Butlers' Printed Models is proposing different configurations for that LVTP-5, in different scales. They look great and if someone has pictures of painted models and information about size, I would be interested.

The finished model looks amazing!
Did you do any special prep work to get the model ready for painting?
The layer lines on a 3D print are probably one of the most off putting things for me.

I fact I painted the 3D printed model without any prep (no wash with putty to fill gaps, ...) . I just primed it with a generous layer of Humbrol enamel black first. But your are right: the print lines are still visible. This is why I added many fittings to hide them.
And I would be curious to see LVTP-5 Butler's Printed Models on 1/48 scale for real and painted to compare.
Usage of 3D printing was just a test for me and I am much more attracted by cast models (like Empress or FullMetalMiniatures)
