These are some WIP shots to see what gamers think of the concept. I'm working on a modern building system using the same cast resin pillars we used in Albedo Sci-Fi buildings. This time we are making parts of large modern buildings. Each module will be a cluster of rooms. These will be placed in between corridor sections that lock together with hidden connectors to make big buildings like hospitals, schools, shopping malls etc?

I'm planning to develop this over next couple of months, so will keep you all updated via this thread.

Look good. As this would be an extra thing for me, price would be the important thing.

Glad you like it. Cost vs quality is always an issue that we try to address. I am working on making these as versatile as possible so they could be used for hospital, library, shopping mall, school, high rise apartments, office block etc. and modular so you can start with a couple of rooms.

Interested to hear peoples thoughts about the cast resin pillars. They add some nice detail and make a strong quick to build structure (a bit like the real thing) but they add £4 to a 300mm x 225mm section compared to using MDF pillars. Is that a good trade or not?

If you are going for utility, and want people to buy lots of rooms,
then MDF is what you should go for. Offer the resin ones in separate
packs for those who want to upgrade. Separate ones would be useful
when making a wrecked section, where the pillars would be more noticed.

For me that would not be a big deal. If I had my druthers MDF manufacturers would have resin add-ons and such for the details that MDF doesn't do well.

That looks very useful and I’d agree with Codsticker, I’d quite like more detailed resin parts, either in the original pack or as add-ons.

Thirded; when dishing out for a project, 4 pounds per square foot extra would be acceptable to me. But obviously I can't speak for everyone here.

The proposed option by has.been sounds good in that regard; let the customer choose. But make sure you put the resin choice up as the primary.

Question; do the wall panels slot into the pillars?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Yes, the pillars are structural.
The floor has a recess that the pillar sits in.
The pillars come in variations with 1, 2 straight, 2 corner, 3 & 4 slots in the side.
The walls have tabs that fit into the pillars.
The pillars and the floor also has a 3mm cube capacity to take an optional rare earth magnet if you want additional floors and for them to align and hold together perfectly.

The whole system makes a very strong and easy to assemble structure.

Just remembered that I made a video showing how the pillars work with sci-fi buildings (which they were originally designed for)
