The Petite Race for Africa - MOAB 2019
« on: October 13, 2019, 05:27:00 AM »
It's been a week now since a friend and myself ran our game "The Petite Race For Africa" at out yearly war-gaming convention in Sydney, MOAB (Mother of All Battles).
I'm happy to say the event was a great success and enjoyed by all our players, of which we had the full complement of 8 per day sign up. Unfortunately not one Aussie LAFer could play, which is always a great disappointment for me, as I'd love for Aussies LAFers to have a much better presence of getting together and playing some games.
I will use this topic to post some pictures of the day and what went on during the prep.

Firstly this is the blurb we made up about the scenario:

And here are some staged shots I took to entice the punters to sign up for the event.

I will post some more pics and details of the actual game being played soon.

Goats?  Good.  Rhino?  Better.  Overall visual?  Best.  No pressure to top that in the further reports however.  Unless you like pressure.   :D

The Tembe - The Petite Race for Africa
« Reply #8 on: October 15, 2019, 03:41:23 AM »
The main terrain piece required for the game was a slaver tembe, which the premise of the entire scenario centered upon.
I spent far more time than I'd hoped in the planning stages of the tembe because I knew it was going to be the focal of everyone playing and I also needed it to be as functional as possible.
There are a lot of examples of other people's efforts in tembe building right here on the Lead Adventure Forum and that was a great source of inspiration, and where I ultimately got my design from.
The materials I used in the build were foam-board for the walls, a mdf base, real twig for the palisade gateways, along with the classic towel for roof thatching.

Wow! That does look like it's going to be one very beautiful, interesting and fun game!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I love the 'layered' thatching on the building (sorry, I've forgotten what they are called). You can tell that the thatching has been given the correct amount loving care and attention to make it look more realistic

That's really special. I like the straw on the floor. I'm going to have to steal that idea.
