Japanese-style treasure and clue tokens
« on: October 18, 2019, 05:44:11 AM »
I'm doing a samurai/Legend of the Five Rings reskin of Rangers of Shadow Deep, and need something for the treasure and clue tokens, but I'm having trouble finding anything appropriate. Any suggestions?

I'd prefer an actual miniature for the token, and I'd normally just use a treasure chest or a treasure pile miniature for the treasure token, but that doesn't really fit with the "ancient Japan" aesthetic. Similarly, the best I've come up with for the clue token is a stone lantern miniature, of which there are a few companies that make them.

Look at Oshirio's (fellow LAFer) web-site. Lots of oriental bits,
notice boards, road side shrine, bells, grave markers etc.
Plus he is a nice chap to deal with. He also produces some
fantastic scratch-builds, so if you have some other ideas, talk to him.

Essar, I did my own using commercially available bits because I too couldn't find anything appropriate. Here's my unpainted effort:

Cheers. Looks like there's some good stuff on his website.

That's really cool! I was thinking I could buy some plastic samurai weapon sprues and find some scrolls, coins, etc to make my own. Only problem with that is I have to track down all the parts individually, as I don't have any boxes of random bits. Still, might be my best option.

Tabletop Furniture on Etsy has everything you need (crates, scrolls, books, coin piles):

My katana is from a weapons pack from Dixon Miniatures. I have a bunch of sheathed and unsheathed swords, more than I'll ever use, so if your require a few, let me know.
