Turban colour for Crimean War Zouaves?
« on: October 19, 2019, 12:26:10 PM »
I have some Crimean War Zouaves to paint and I'm unsure of the turban colour.  I've seen both green and white.  I seem to recall that green turbans were worn by the Imperial Guard.  If anyone could advise me of which colour to use I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Not an expert but if you refer to Ottoman troops it would be green for guard and white for others.
There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today...turn two points to port.

Thanks Tom, I should have said it's the French Zouaves turbans I'm looking for.

For the French it would be opposite Guard in white (musicians white with red and blue stripes), others in green. There are not too many paintings/photographs that show them wearing a turban.
