Need help identifying WWII figures
« on: October 31, 2019, 09:17:42 PM »
Two German figs and 10 US Paratrooper figs. They’re all 36-38mm tall, so in the 1/48 scale range.

They’re not Scarab (North Star), Tamiya or Tumbling Dice 1/48 figs.

Thanks

Those Germans are quite interesting and I could definitely use more 1:48 ones! Now I'm wondering what the source is too!

Tumbling Dice do a 1/48th scale range- it could be them...?

Maybe, but as I've just discovered it's another bloody miniatures site with not a single damn picture.

Good god. Who in [current year] expects new customers to buy miniatures sight unseen?  >:(

Oh hey, I was wondering how Tumbling Dice compares to Project X (Scarab), which I found too tall.

I wonder how the unknown figures would compare in the image above?

The unknown figs compare favorably with the Scarab WWII/PX figs.

Top ones look a bit like Victory Force to me (I know they were always bigger than standard 28s)

I'd agree they have a bit of the rough look of VF minis, but are a bit more polished and (more importantly) don't match anything in the VF catalogue.

These two also seem more characterful, with clearer faces.

I'd suggest that if no one here has any answers in the next few days, perhaps repost the question in General Wargames and Hobby Discussion, as I've never seen an un-ID'd mini remain un-ID'd for more than a day or two once the entire LAF collective brain gets going. Never fails to amaze me, that!

Found them : they are the old - and now discontinued - North Star 36mm range. Colonel Bill's have one U.S Airborne set :

I believe the two German figures above the US paras are from the same range.

@Arthur for the win!

I wasn't aware North Star had any earlier 1/48 figs. I will pursue further.

Thanks

I think I can see why they discontinued them.  lol

I vaguely recall the range from years ago. I can't remember whether the figures were merely discontinued or if the range was sold off to another company but Nick Eyre might be able to help you with that. He is the Forum Boss here so all you need to do is PM him.
