Steel Fists' Late Medieval Mounted Knights...
« on: November 02, 2019, 12:07:53 AM »
I notice a few of these appear to be the mounted versions of figures in packs 1-3...

Quote
These represent men at arms in full harness, wearing armour and helmets inspired by Italian and Iberian images and artefacts. So these are ideal for the start of the Italian Wars. As armour was manufactured for export, they'll also not look out of place in any western European army for c1470 to 1500.
They ride unarmored horses and carry heavy lances. All figures have separate heads and so can be mixed to create more variety.

How about some Late Medieval Mounted Mediterranean Light Cavalry, with options for light lances, arquebuses and/or crossbows?

I love them!  :-* :-* :-*

Simon, if you see this, will there be a set of foot knights and infantry for the Iberian Peninsular in particular Granada?

Also, an absolute unique attachment to the ranges would be a range of so called Moors for the defence of Grenada and it's surroundings  8) 8) 8)

I've been looking forward to these for ages, placed my order as soon as I saw the announcement on Facebook.

I plan to mix them into the ranks of my Perry cavalry. Having the heads separate is a great feature, and I'll be mixing heads between the two ranges for sure. I think I'll mix up the horses too, though that will require a bit of saddle surgery and green stuff.

Love them. Help Bridge the 1490 - 1510 gap for Italian wars.

A dedicated range of late 15th century Granadan Moors would certainly certainly be unique, though I would have some doubts on its commercial viability. As far as I have understood, this campaign is not particularly popular amongst wargamers, and catering to the subject properly would require a whole lot of different sculpts, both infantry and cavalry.

Steel Fist already has three ranges and just a single talented (and possibly only part-time?) sculptor to take care of them.

As for the original topic, those are some very decent looking men-at-arms, though personally I am not quite as impressed with these as from some of the previous Steel Fist releases.

I agree, with the caveat that we might be dealing with a chicken and the egg scenario. For example, before the Age of Arthur and El Cid Warhammer Historical books were published it was impossible to imagine that such periods of history would become huge for wargamers. Perhaps WH is a bit of an extreme example because of the resources they had but it at least elucidates my point nicely.

If a popular rule set was to appear which focused on that period of history, who knows :)
