Mdf Pulp and VSF 28mm Spaceships.
« on: November 09, 2019, 09:31:00 AM »
Whilst I'm more than happy to scratch build what I need . Occasionally it's nice to have someone else to take the straight.
So I thought I'd look for a spaceship model to round off my pulp ,and could be used for VSF too.
It's surprisingly difficult to do unless you willing not to eat or pay the mortgage for a month or two.

With that in mind .I had to admit it's compromise time and either convert or scratch build.
Whilst trying to avoid scratch building .I cam across these Cogs O War kits on Esty.
I popped them an email enquiring after these kits. Still not heard from them .(a week ago.) So I thought I'd pop for the rocket wih is around 40cm tall and 9cm diameter. As its got a review that state's its a pig around half way through construction and the fault is only obvious around this point.
I know that seems an odd thing to do.At £12 including p&p. Its worth seeing if its a fault or something that just requires a dry run and sanding.
I've actually my eye on the Tin Tin style rocket but the lack of communication and a price tag of £25 ,Only to see if its a pain in the arse and find no one answers your questions .Is a little daft even for me.
I'll update here when and if it arrives .
But in the meantime if anyone's any suggestions for other kits.

Cannot help on the rocket front....clicked expecting to see more of your wonderful and hugely inspiring work...actually felt a small wave of relief when I didn't...but cannot wait to see what you create.  Amazing talent and every time I try modelling with card it frustrates and looks rubbish so the admiration for your work grows.

I built the top one of these about 5 years ago. It suffers from the usual mdf kit problems, but more so; i.e., you need at least 17 hands, and when you push one bit in another pops out, or it won't go because the glue has dried elsewhere. With your modelling skills and slow drying glue you should have no problem.

Thanks for the heads up.
Looking at the rocket kit .and given your insights .I suspect a ladder jig might be the easiest way to go.

Roo,
I've started a retro rocket on my Pulp thread . it's only at an early stage at the moment(to the piont it still says Pringles on the side.) But it'll get there.
