Lovely stuff. :-*

I admire anyone who is prepared to paint that much tartan :o :)

Really great stuff  :-* :-* :-*

Just out of interest, would they be wearing plaid or tartan?

Great work Roger! I have the same project on my table so I will follow your progress and learn from it  ;) I had the same qualms about basing as you have but finally opted for multi basing of 4 miniatures on 60mm x 40mm 2mm mdf bases

Following the recent Flags of War 1745 kickstarter, I have an unfeasibly large amount of tartan to paint. I will follow this one with interest for inspiration, as these look terrific.

For basing I am going with my standard 'Sharp Practice' with rank and file on pennies, leaders and characters on tuppennies, then ranking these on the Warbases sabot bases. I will have to check but I think the SP rules for 1745 (Summer 2017 special) grade the Highlanders as Tribe, so 12 figures per 'unit'.

Thanks very much gents. Plaid or tartan, I doubt any could tell the fdifferencw iwht my painting Atheling. Its more ogf  a nod towards the colour schemes to be honest. I dont want to get too cauht up in the detail and certainly wont be bothering with clan tartans.

In period, there weren't really clan tartans as such, there were regional patterns and particular colours.

How do the Galloping Major figures match with the Flags-of-War ones?

Plaid is the garment and tartan is the pattern. Would the plaid be in a tartan style? Yes it would as evidence shows that it widely used in with various patterns and colours.

Thanks Iain. More to follow.

Shahbaraz there is a comparison shot on the blog, for my money they dont mix too well. Galloping Mjaor are lovely but a bit too tall and chunky to mix well with some of the other ranges including Flags of War. As I am doing Sharp Practice I may use the odd Galloping Major figure as a character or leader as these will look fine as larger than life and they are nice.

Thanks Roger,  I'm also doing Sharp Practice, so that's very helpful. Have you done any comparisons with other ranges?
