Just a short post; I've been playing about with the hands on the Artizan mini's as they are angled about 45 degrees to the right which makes basing a problem later. It looks a bit weird too.

My solution? Cut the off the hands of the little bleeders then pin them back into a different position! If only they were plastics!

Good idea, although that is some dedication! The old osprey book on the moors was always one of my favourites, and I find the medieval african empires really interesting, so I look forward to seeing these sudanese chaps painted.

To be honest, it's a bit of a pain but doesn't take very long really.

Thanks. Still working on the Hasham Guard cavalry at present. I make sure I do some prep work every night too, that way it doesn't get too boring :)

Here are the pics of Yusuf ibn Tashfin Command Base which will accompany the Black Guard seen in their relative infancy on page 1 and the finished unit on page 2.

As usual all the info regarding the pics can be seen on my blog here:

He looks absolutely spiffing old bean, you've made a proper foaming at the mouth, religious nut job there matey!
I've got the same figure for my Mad Mullah, and have gone for a much brighter look, I'm thinking now that was a bad mistake.

Thanks HF  :)

The base fits better with the Black Guard with darker tones. Currently working on the Mounted Hasham Guard who are sporting...... wait for it..... darker tones  lol

Thanks for the compliment :)

It's funny, I stopped painting for about four, possibly five years(?) and it's been bit of a a steep learning curve getting back into it. A combination of just forgetting about technique, colour theory etc and my eyes declining (I have two sets different magnification glasses and an Optivisor!  lol )

Having said that, I don;t think I've enjoyed painting mini's this much in years! :)

My most enjoyable project was my Crusades Armies.

So much colour and diversity of troops, but, lots of cavalry!

Nice converts Atheling :-* :-* :-*
