.....   sadly miniatures companies can't model the leg posture right and keep the minis easy to assemble, and they usually skimp on the saddle detail..
I have sometimes wondered if casting the horse and bottom half of the rider as a single piece and the top half of the rider as separate would work?

Nice painting as always Jon and metal washers for the base will solve your sneezing problem.  Better than Lemsip :)
