Although the the Prussians have occupied Kent and parts of Surrey and Essex, they have been unable to surround London. The war has now entered a new phase, with the Prussians controlling most of the area south of the River Thames, together with some eastern parts of London to the north of the river. Both sides cling to the fortified ruins they occupy, neither willing to give up the parts of the city under their control. The battle for the city has now reached a stalemate. Prussian and British offensives and counter-offensives have only served to demonstrate the stupidy of sending your new reinforcements against fortified positions occupied by an enemy equipped with the latest 19th century technology.

In an attempt to break the stalemate the Royal Engineers have commandeered a large part of the Great Weatern Railway workshops in Swindon. Here Major Percy Ironside-Hobart RE has set about creating new vehicles and improving existing designs to help sweep the Hun from London.

Foremost of the new vehicles is the Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE). With its heavy armour, forward-firing heavy gun and sponson-mounted light guns it would be a formidable opponent anyway. By the addition of the dozer blade makes this a truly remarkable design. Although the blade was designed for clearing a path through rubble and barbed wire, the AVRE crews soon learnt that not only does the blade make an effective ramming weapon against other vehicles but it also provides significant additional front armour protection for the vehicle.

Nice - always liked the look of those SOTR suits. (must resist WWW2, must resist...) Give it a wash of black or very dark grey, though, it looks very flat currently.

Looking forward to seeing these in action. we must arrange another bigsaturday game at the Grotto soon, perhaps before BLAMif you can make it. Then we might have ago at the big seige of London game.

Sorry about that - bad form, what? Lovely job. Those conversions are really full of character. You can just tell that whenever anything mechanical goes wrong, that fellow on the left's answer is to just give it a clout with that massive hammer of his.

I particularly like the WF British as they are very easy top convert and have the additional heads with glengarries - perfect for converting other figures like my Impervious Suit. I might have to get some of Ramshackle's heads in pith helmets and gasmasks to convert a full unit
