28mm Frigate
« on: January 02, 2020, 02:32:08 AM »
This is my 99% completed Frigate I 3d printed. Files are from Printable Scenery. Only thing left I'll add are furled sails. More pictures on my blog: https://wyndehurstproductions.blogspot.com/2020/01/28mm-frigate.html

This was my inspiration.

In all her glory.

6 guns a side for this model to fit with Blood & Plunder.

2 rear chasers.

I just picked colors for the deck that I felt looked good.

Very cool.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

That’s very nice.
I suppose the “lines” that people keep mentioning that you get on finished products whilst 3D printing, actually help on this type of piece ?
Well done again.

Great looking ship, must admit I’d still be tempted by a great big chunk of resin ...would be interested to see a price comparison between two equivalent models.

The print lines don’t appear to be an issue, or as a previous poster mentioned, perhaps even a bonus on a model like this, but I’d still be tempted to replace the guns with metal ones.

Very cool ship! What kind of 3d printer have you used? How long does the ship needs to be printed? Which settings have you used to make the print?

The cannons do not print very well unless you used a resin printer. If you don't factor in the cost of the printer (about $400usd) then the model cost less then $30usd. It was a long print though, 15-20hrs per section. I used my normal print settings for models with the designers added suggestions. All printed in PLA.
