Silent Invaders LPL13 Gothic Horror accumulation
« on: December 18, 2019, 01:08:27 PM »
My contribution to the thirteenth Lead Painters League, 2019.

Over time I’ve added each week’s entry, plus details of the minis used, to my ‘Whitechapel Horror!’ thread, which is here:

https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=107054.0

Bit of background: I didn’t contemplate joining the LPL until 3rd September with the first 3 teams due in on the 27th. I decided to use the LPL to progress my Victorian Gothic Horror project, for which I had a single assembled but unpainted terrain piece and a big lead pile, almost all of which still needed prepping and in many cases converting. I did have 8 minis painted, but as they had already been published I wasn’t going to submit them as a team.

Anyways, here’s the lot en masse. Everything was painted sometime from 2/9 onwards, apart from the 8 minis with the terrain bits inside the yard. By round 10 I had painted 59 minis, including the three ‘vehicles’, plus the terrain, though not everything made it into a league entry.

And for good order, here’s each entry ...

Round 1 “Home after a fangtastic night”

Round 2 “Goodness me, so much bosom!”

Round 3 “Pistols before dawn”

Round 4 “Vampire cops it in Lehman Street”

Round 5 “Northern Soul(less) Dance Night”

Round 6 “East End Boys No West End Girl”

Round 7 “Divine Intervention”

Round 8 “Black Friday unleashes vampire crowds”

Round 9 “Whitechapel Slum Tour”

Round 10 “Pinkertons come to London Town”

Finally, hope you enjoyed my entries, many thanks to those that organised, the voters and of course my fellow players.

My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 32
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Love the group photo.   I think the slum tour was my favorite.

Awesome man, that has to feel good knocking out a unified project like that!
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

I wish I had the wit to use the LPL in this way. Might get more gaming done. I always come up with crazy ideas that simply must be given form,  and so only about 25% of my entries are actually gaming orientated.

Wonderful job all round, SI. I don't know if you meant it to, but that third pic looks like a dance number. Like that Michael Jackson video from the 80s.  :)

Thanks all!

First time I’ve made the LPL all about one theme and my commitment  certainly had less wobbles than on prior occasions.

The third image wasn’t planned as a Thriller-esque dance number but it certainly looks like it.    8)  lol

I really enjoyed all of your entries.  And they were very inspirational.  So much so that I was digging out some of my Victorian stuff for a later round, but as with many more intended teams, I ran out of time.  (Maybe next year.   ::) )

Ta  :)

There isn’t a really tall ‘regular’ in the crowd but it just so happens that there’s one such mini in the Highgate Miniatures London Characters pack that will soon be joining the crowd.  8)  :D

Sticking strongly to a theme really simplifies this terrain business, doesn't it? ;) I've used some recurring themes in the past, but never without at least a few ventures to theme bonus specials and such, IIRC. Looks like you were either lucky or smart with those this year, managing to score the bonus points too with no outliers from the main theme.

In any case, LPL has proven to work as highly effective a motivator to get that lingering convention game or club board finally done. Congrats for accomplishing that. 8)
