There's a CoC RPG Dark Ages supplement. https://www.chaosium.com/cthulhu-dark-ages-pdf/

Would it be extremely difficult to add a few “Lovecraftian” banners to an existing Medieval army, to make them look like the pro-“invader” faction?  Would banners alone do it, with some creatures sprinkled here and there?

And perhaps make a portal for “eldritch” reinforcements?  :)

I’m hoping for some versatility for my existing human force and not a complete overhaul and repainting of the entire army.

Thoughts?

Couple of banners , maybe the head of the army could have a head swap with a tentacled one or a tail?
Or the army could have lot of mercenaries prepared to fight for a square meal a day ?

Good idea.  Interchangeable banners and a few key converted duplicates is certainly doable!

Thanks, I was not aware of this supplement.  Will have a look.

I have started collecting a few figures to create a "Cthulhoid" Priesthood with suitable faces to "control" at least one of the factions/religions so that the humans are part of a conflict between various old, new, Elder etc gods with their associated mythologies.

Seeing as how my crusader force is 15mm, I’m very much interested in the height of those CP fellas.  Does anyone know?

Thanks

I do generally try to have a few fantasy elements I can attach to medieval armies, mainly priests/shamans.
I did my Viking force with a few GoT Iron Islands Kraken banner’s to convert them to a fantasy force.  Now I think of it, the Kraken is not too dissimilar to the Elder God and adding a few figure conversions using these:

would give me a nicely tentacle worshipping force for a few Dragon Rampant games  :)

Hmm.  Maybe I’ll give sculpting tentacles another try.  This was my attempt back in January 2007:

I can see why these guys are attacking on foot:

I might try and add red and purple tentacles to these “blobs”, to make them more Cthulhu-esque.

They look suitably disgusting already. I am not sure that extra tentacles would improve them. Try experimenting with one and show us the results - I am happy to be proven wrong.

The GW dark elf corsairs have a lovely tentacle head for their banner pole .
