BSC2020 ichwillauch "perils of sea for a spanish galleon"
« on: December 22, 2019, 09:28:08 AM »
First Idea: a badly damaged galleon is fighting a desperate and hopeless struggle after a lost encounter on sea against the elements.

I was always fascinated of the old oil paintings themed around the four day battle 1666...

Because 1666 warships are a little bit difficult to build, I switched to the much more simplified "Half Moon" model and made a first sketch..

Teammate! More like Captian I imagine!  ;D It looks very impressive, I am excited to see how this turns out.

The model is 1:50 Corel wooden static kit. If (ever) finished it will have a length of 520mm. So its a large dog…

First ideas are to turn the flyboat into a warship by increasing the number of guns up to 16 or 18 and some swivel guns. Thomarillion offers some high quality for a small budget.

Today the first part of the crew arrived…

1. Captain Blackadder and Companions
2. Bystanders, wellwishers, settlers, nobles and/or rich merchants
3. Sea soldiers
4. Boarding party
5. Gun crew and sailors

How do you get your dog and ship plans to stick to the ceiling like this? Most impressive thing so far!  :D

This might be the most ambitious plan so far for BSC2020, I wish you luck!

Holy cow... This is ambitious. Wrecked sailing ships means oodles of details in disarray. Difficult.

I have to confess I have started some days ago with this project….

Step 1 All parts for the inner structure were made from 4mm plywood. I tried to make difficult parts with my 3d printer, but meanwhile my printer has big troubles with the heating…

Step 2 test if all parts of the main deck will fit together…

Step 3 final test if all parts of the inner structure will fit together

Step 4 general layout of all parts finished so far…
