Thats what happens when you get a 3d printer and your first prints go wrong.

Will change the theme of my build to Huey crash as my son managed yesterday to drop a 3d printed Huey model  :(

So at the weekend I started on this project. I based the parts and added some more detail. I decided to do three bases , 1. The main airframe, 2. the tail section, 3. one of the main rotor blades. I added some pipes and electricity lines to the broken joint between the main frame and the tail section. Furthermore I added some bulletholes in the canopy of the pilot and in the turbine section . After all there must be a reason for the crash. Then I started to do the basing. I tried to model the crushed soil of the impact to show the force of the crash, not sure if that comes out as I intend to. The main rotor piece is stuck in the ground by the force of the rotary movement of the blade. Hope that makes all sense .

I love this idea.  Great way to use a broken print.

Nice work - a good use of a damaged print

I think it looks very convincing, not sure if anyone would have survived that crash landing  , though .

Indeed Belisarius I don't think so either. Probably the co pilot couldn't take over quickly enough to do a proper autorotation or the ship just didn't have enough power left as it was hit in the jet engine and the pilot ( sitting on the left) probably was unconscious or dead before the crash.

So some more work done. Put some sand and gravel down as base for the jungle terrain to be added after painting. I put on the base coat, I like to use black gesso on the prints as that tends to hide the unevenness of 3d layer printing. So these will be the last pictures as I have to do some proper paintwork next. There will be lots added later and I will show pictures of the jungle build around the ship but no more pictures of the complete thing!
