Y3K Kestrel
« on: December 27, 2019, 04:49:48 PM »
Recently saw this thread ( http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=121628.0;topicseen ) which reminded me how I was impressed by the kit when I saw the first WIP photos and said to myself: I would really like to have that.

But 200 universal credits :o :o :o  has awoken my inner Scrooge and I still have to wait a week for the start date of the Build Something Contest so here is my hommage to the Peregrine.

Some lazy hours later while doing other things and watching shows at same time from stolen moments over the last 3 days because of "Xmas stuff" (Humbug!), 3-4 medium chipboard sheets, 4 tissue boxes, foamboard and some wire to get to this point. I figure I'm about mid way in the build at this point.

 More to come

Cheers

Cool, Braz - and you call this a little something to while away the time until the BSC stars?!??
Waiting to see more.  8)

Thanks all ( including the hate on from Elbows :D )

One of the modifications I made was that I wanted to be able to load a standard cargo container which necessitated making the ship taller overall.

Kitted out the toilet while it's still accessible. A feature of the original model.

Also kitted out the the sleep bunk. It wasn't glued in earlier for this purpose.

And the fiddly part, building the roof, with all those curves and angles.

cheers

Braz, which chipboard you use again?

Grimm
Grafix Medium Weight Chipboard - there are different sizes available.
https://www.amazon.ca/Grafix-CB81125-Chipboard-11-Inch-Natural/dp/B00161W6L8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1MNX2V66XB6UJ&keywords=chipboard+sheets&qid=1578076148&sprefix=chipboard%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-1

Some more WIP pics. Landing gear which won't be too detailed as will mostly be out of sight.

The engine. Built a quick jig, seen at bottom, to get the right shape .

Didn't like the high flat side so built these add-ons. Haven't decided yet at what height it will be.

I'm further along with much of the detailing done but need to take some more pics to post. Looks like the materials for the structure will come in at 5 chipboard sheets (8.5 x11) and 6 tissue boxes.
