At long last a game of Martian Empires
« on: December 29, 2019, 05:27:59 PM »
For the last club night before Christmas we decided to dig out Martian Empires. At one point there were 5 ME armies in the club. But two of the players had moved away. Sean still has Prussians and I have Martians both Red and Green. Although we had been mostly playing HOTT using our armies.

The Jeddak of T'andori has rushed to defend his lands borders against the encroaching Prussians. The Jeddak sets out his forces with two units of Imperial martians supported by artillery on the left with a unit of Tharks and artillery on the right.

The Prussian line led with elite Uhlans on the right then a unit of inf and then Askari infantry. On the left there were several small sized units including Rocket troops and clockwork infantry. The line was supported by artillery and a small flier.

The Martians commenced an artillery barrage along the line while advancing with the Tharks. Meanwhile the Prussians released the Uhlans suppported by the flier.

The Uhlans hammered into the first martian unit and then proceeded to start push it back. The Tharks started trading long range shots with the units facing them slowly whittling them down. The massed martian artillery destroyed the Prussian artillery and started to inflict casualties on the Prussian inf.

Unfortunately the Uhlans pushed back the Martian unit facing them until they broke it. They then turned and attacked the Martian artillery. Meanwhile the Prussian infantry was advancing in the center until they contacted the second Martian unit. The Tharks continued to stand firm snipping away at the units facing them.
The Uhlans saw off the Martian artillery and then took the last Martian unit in the rear. The Jeddak could see that the battle was lost took shelter with his loyal Thark mercenaries and withdrew. The Martians were defeated but had caused significant casualties on the Prussians which could not easily be replaced.

Great to see another Martian Empires battle.
I have used them for my colonials for the past don't know how many years and after a dismal year last year, hope to see them trotting out again to the tune of M.E.
