15mm Special Forces - Khurasan Ex-Bat
« on: April 30, 2020, 10:07:34 AM »
These are Khurasan's 15mm  Fed Army ex-bat treaty troops.
Quite nice minis.
I converted one of them to a saw, so as to have 1 for each squad.

I enjoy painting small groups , as you can dedicate more time on them. ;)

Thanks for your comments

I like the effect, but what is the brown goop? It looks a bit like landscaping glue that comes in a caulk tube.

The colors and the bases work well together, very nice work.

Thanks for liking them.

WM - I think the bases took as much time to make as it took to paint the minis !!! Sometime I go overboard  ;D

Cook - the brown goo is a mixture of red & grey sprues dissolved in a solvent. Just google " Sprue Goo " and you'll see what I mean. It is stringy, sticky and shrinks as it dries but has a lot of uses. It can even hold its shape in an appropriate mould and is great for modelling  slime, effluent from pipes etc.

The main problem I find with it ( & I'm going technical here, is that since it is dissolved not melted , finished pieces end with with little holes as it dries )

But again another reason why I suggest never to throw away sprue.
Been using it since I used to build model tanks  ( around 40 to 45 years now  :o )

dissolved sprue you say... That is new to me. Off to research on the internet!!!

My big obstacle here may be that I rarely use plastic glue. I don't know if the stuff I have just sucks, or I never seem to have the right plastics, but I've mostly I just stick to super glue for everything in my figures.

Were the figures backlit?  Or maybe I need new glasses ... again.

Thanks again.

Cook - It is a very versatile, if smelly medium.

CC - I took the photos outside under a blue sunny sky, but now I'm posting other pics taken under a white spotlight. Personally I prefer sunlight , which fortunately we have plenty off, where I live.

Brummie - Thanks Man..
