Has anyone played the set of rules that appeared in Miniature Wargames(I think sometime in 2017)?  If so, what is your opinion of them as opposed to GDW's original set.

Somehow I am getting the feeling that nobody has an opinion or cares about these rules.  Which more or less answerw my question. *grin*

I care about the rules, but you asked specifically for info from people who have played them, which I haven't yet.

It was the May '17 issue.  I've played a lot of Ironclads & Etherflyers way back when.  This update looks like it polishes things up a bit, doesn't look like anything was a step backward in any way.  They are the rules I'm planning on using once I'm geared up for running games with 28mm ships — a project which is stalled waiting for completion of a major cleaning out of my basement so I'll have room to store them!

I would offer an opinion if I could just get a hold of the rules!

So far I have not been able to find a copy of the magazine, and my attempt to buy a digital copy of the magazine failed. >:(

From what little that I have seen, it does look very good, and exactly what I want.

Well, thanks for the responses.  It sounds like these are fairly decent and worth getting a copy .

Have not played the Cloudship rules in WI mag, as I use the original (slightly modified) GW S1889 rules for Cloudships, all in 28mm (which I have quite a number of, and gearing up for a convention game :-). I highly suggest getting a sub to the WI Prime, so you can download any article (or issue) of WI mag.

SMM
I would be interested to see how those rules worked as opposed to the original set.
Cheers

there is a play sheet and introduction to the rules at http://www.werelords.com/cloudships/main.htm

If you click on the playsheets section of the site there is a 2012 version of the rules available.

Ah, thank you for posting the link.  Just today I was reading the May 2017 rules more closely and noticed that they are not exactly "full rules" as advertised on the front cover.  They need to be used in conjunction with those play sheets which have all weaponry stats, etc on them!
