ECW The Battle of Glastonbury in 6mm
« on: January 05, 2020, 10:59:36 AM »
Part 1 of the Battle of Glastonbury is now up on my blog. The scenario is taken from "English Civil War Campaign Scenarios - The 1643 Campaign for the South-West." Forlorn Hope rules by Peter Berry are being used and the game is being played solo. More details can be found on my blog https://grymauch.blogspot.com/2020/01/ecw-battle-of-glastonbury-part-1.html#more

Impressive. Shows the strengths of 6mm I think, and the terrain is really nice too!

Agreed. The mini's and the terrain are very much in sync with one another which is crucial when using smaller scales as too often one sees 1970's felt bunged on the table to represent woods :(

You game looks amazing  8) 8) 8)

Thanks again for your comments. I agree Atheling, figures that blend in with terrain looks better, hence one of the reasons for smaller base sizes. I can see the reasoning behind large scenic bases for speed of play etc. (a route I went down initially) but the cost is an unnaturally looking table with bases atop the terrain.

With the battle underway turns 1 - 8 are now up on my blog. The Royalists make heavy weather of breaking through the thin Parliamentarian line. https://grymauch.blogspot.com/2020/01/ecw-battle-of-glastonbury-part-2-turns.html#more

Some of those photos could pass for larger scales!  Very, very nicely done.

One thought to consider - as long as they are not color coded - is to paint the edges of your bases, troops and terrain, a mottled yellow/tan/green color and they will blend even better than they already do.  As a solo gamer you may not care but your photos will Snap even stronger for viewers.

Impressive! Did the battle stem from

a) A shortage of bottled water
b) Long queues for the Porta-Loos
c) Florence and the Machine cutting their set short.
d) Florence and the Machine not cutting their set short.
e) Some bloke called Dave selling dodgy ‘E’s

Many thanks for your suggestions FifteensAway. Deciding what colour to paint base edges is never an easy one. Will bear your ideas in mind.

Carlos.... you have no idea how hard it was trying to find suitable figures to represent Stormyz, Kylie Minogue etc. in 6mm! Hence settled on ECW style.
