Landsknecht Question
« on: January 08, 2020, 05:41:08 PM »
I've been given a bag of 28mm metal landsknechts. I'm trying to work out who the manufacturer is. I think they may well be Foundry, because they have 'WF' on the bases, but they have separate heads. Does anyone know whether Foundry landsknechts come with separate heads?

Paul, a wee pic would be a huge help.

It it's an old model is might be the initials of the sculptor? Like the ye olde GW fantasy stuff.

The majority look like old Wargames Foundry Landsknechts but I’ve not seen them with separate heads like that before.

The bases look somehow incomplete, maybe recasts of old Foundry figures?

I think I might actually have ALL the Foundry Landsknecht minis, thanks to my baby sister (God bless her!)

These don't resemble any of them to me.  They could be modified and re-cast, as mentioned above.

They bodies definitely match Foundry, but I’m fairly certain they were never produced with separate heads.  I’d say your looking at counterfeit recasts.

Paul mate, I'm with Stuart. consider me officially baffled!  o_o

Why are the heads separate? I have never come across separate heads on Foundry Landsknechts Maybe it's worth firing a quick email off to Foundry to ask?

I honestly don't think theybare foundry,  I don't recognise the figure that has it's arms in the air.

Thinking back into the mists of time I did have some ECW figures that came with seperate heads,, I have been scratching my head to try and remember which company they were from, my best guess is Redoubt Miniatures. They do do a Landsknecht range.

The other feature I recognise but can't place is the weapon cast as part of the base, it will probably come to me at a random time  in the future.

How large are they Paul? I suspect I know the answer to this but have you got any the Perry sculpted Foundry Landsknechts you could compare them with?

I think Yarkshire Gamer might be right, though I've never personally owned any Redoubt Landsknechts.

I'm absolutely certain they're not counterfeit. I suspect that they're Foundry - perhaps figures which they cast as an experiment to see how they worked, but which they never sold to the public. I seem to recall in the past seeing some Seadogs which looked like Foundry figures but which didn't appear in their catalogue, and I was told that they were figures which Foundry had commissioned but which they had never included as part of their range - so this sort of thing does happen.
