Saga Age of Crusades: Encounter in an unknown land
« on: January 17, 2020, 10:07:50 AM »
We played this excellent scenario from the 'Book of Battles' on Monday. Great fun, and more like a game of Congo with unknown terrain to be explored for objectives and unexpected surprises like packs of hyenas, and stray livestock (and the game starts at night, which adds to the mayhem). Saracens vs Crusaders; both sides used their mounted to race ahead and grab bits of terrain, at the expense of exhausting themselves.
Then the foot soldiers followed up; Saracens did their usual thing of shooting and scooting with their mounted, Crusaders tried to get in co-ordinated charges with their knights. In the end it came to a crucial combat on the last move, with the Crusader crossbowmen grimly clinging on to their objective to eke out a narrow win. A couple of shots of the action
