Joining the GoT craze with my Dornishmen
« on: January 30, 2020, 01:28:13 PM »
Hi,

after looking at all the magnificient Song of Fire and Ice projects going on here it was only matter of time for me to start my own.

Martells and Dorne in general have always been my favoirite part of the lore, so it was also natural choice for my project.

I currently don't have any game particularly in mind and the plan is just to do small bands of knights/nobles and their bannermen that could maybe at some point be collected under the same army.

I started with House Vaith, as I liked the heraldic colours most. The basis are the fantastic plastic kits by Perry miniatures. I have bits from most of the WotR kits and also from the Mahdist ansar box.

At some point I'll probably add some lions in the force, even if they are not according to the books. If the northmen have Dire wolves as familiars, why can't the southerners have lions :) Falconer is also a must.

Well, those are very well done 8)
And an interesting and nice change from the usual Westerosi houses.

They look excellent! Good use of the Ansar, really like the spearman.

Welcome aboard the ASoIaF train!

Amazing work on the Martells too, they're unfortunately underrepresented in the tabletop world so it's great to see them here! And like Ogrob says, good work integrating the Ansar kit! It works really well!

Silly question but do you have any plans for the 'weirder' (in comparison to the rest of Dorne at least!) houses like the Yronwoods and Daynes?

Keep up the great work!

Martells are still upcoming, these were from House Vaith, but yes the plan is indeed to do this kind of small warbands from the different houses and then maybe run them as a Lion rampant force or something. Most likely I just do something along the inspiring robber knights battle report by Captain Blood, that inspired this very much (thank you for that). Other ASoIaF activity around here is focused on the CMoN game. It looks also quite interesting, but I don't like the models and especially not the movement trays and the models are so differently scaled from Perrys, that having both at the same table would look very strange.

I guess these could also be run in historical setting as Spanish knights and I also have a quite big medieval Muslim force, so could also do some skirmishes related to reconquista.

Excellent - welcome to the madness  :D

It’s really good to see a fresh perspective on Westeros, particularly upon an underrepresented region - looking forward to watching your progress as I haven’t got any Martells yet
