Yes, Rangers is absolutely perfect and tons of fun. And if you have a decent Fantasy collection
I too have had great fun with Rangers of Shadow Deep. It's a great system with an evocative setting, but could easily be tweaked to fit any other very easily.
It does sound like exactly the game you want! The deluxe edition is a new printed edition, at first the game was only available on print on demand. There is a little rules update included, but I believe that can be gotten for free in pdf form.
Thanks, I think I'd rather have something tangible like the book.
I bought the PDF when it first came out and had it spiral bound at a local copyshop. Wasn't that expensive and works really well for gaming. And for miniatures you can do whatever you like. You can make it in the style of Lord of the Rings, using Orcs as the Gnolls. Or a Dark Souls versions. Or Pathfinder. Or...There are people who play the game in a Star Wars setting! Choose whatever miniature you want for a profile and just have fun. For me that's the coolest thing in the game. Joe offers a terrific rules set with great scenarios and leaves a lot for you to fill in however you like.
