I recently received a copy of Steve Brown's book covering the campaign of Sir Charles Grey and Sir John Jervis to the West Indies in 1794.

I have put together a review of the book together with my thoughts about it, and if you would like to know more then just follow the link to JJ's

That is a fine review.  It was interesting to read of another experienced commander who favoured the bayonet over fire power and demonstrated its efficacy.

Thank you.

Yes indeed, Grey does stand out as a remarkable commander in many ways, described as he was as being a very pleasant person to meet and a gentleman in polite company but a commander with a fierce determination to win when conducting military affairs.

And father of Charles Grey, the 2nd Earl, after whom the tea is named.
