Has anyone 3d printed doors and windows in 28mm?
« on: February 18, 2020, 11:20:45 AM »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has printed their own doors and windows for scratch building in 28mm? I use foam or foam core board to build my own stuff and wondered if anyone has already done this or if there is someone out there who could do this?
I may ven buy a 3d printer to have a go myself... are there any plans available online to use? I would need several examples and then make a mould of them.
Any advice, hints or tips would be gratefully accepted as 3d printing would be a big step!
Thanks Guys

Yes I do as it can save time or produce parts that are hard to sculpt. Speaking of foam core someone has designed some basic doors and windows for 5mm foamcore.

One big advantage of 3D printing is you can resize the models on the x,y or z axis to suit. So say a window is too big or too thick you can shrink it down to fit. However if you want to make a mold then you need to be careful regarding layers (if you use a FDM printer). Not sure about resin but from the photos the quality is much better.

I don't have a 3d printer but my buddy prints me all types of stuff from Thinigverse.

Great site. Those inset doors and windows 6mmfan linked to look awesome!
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Maybe we need a  “PLA Adventure” section!

Would be good to swap ideas and files!

Not a bad idea- more and more members are getting into 3D printers and others, like me, are 3D curious. 8)
