20mm WW2 miniatures
« on: February 20, 2020, 12:26:59 PM »
Hi... long time not posting in any forum :)

I have an issue. The Grandpa of a friend of mine has built 20mm WW2 scale kits his whole life. He also used to sculpt his own miniatures. Now that he is getting older they need advice how to handle all his stuff.

He made loads of minatures and painted them for his personal use.

Question is: would it be worth the effort to clean, cast and make a range of minis out of them? (It could be a very nice stock to start a business having all these masters)

I am not into 20mm stuff and can't really say wether the minis are good or useful.

Cheers,
Tobi

He has some skill.  The figures look better suited to diorama modelling than gaming though which is a very different market.
You could try posting on the Wargamers Guild forum where there are a lot of 20mm modelling fans and several current manufacturers who may give you some guidance.

Otherwise maybe drop a line to your local IPMS branch and see what they recommend.

The plastic kits, both assembled (if they are of the same quality as those figures) and unassembled will be relatively easy to sell but make sure you get advice on which are valuable through rarity.
