Stargate - 15mm
« on: July 22, 2009, 10:31:32 PM »
Here's a little project of mine I've done this week, a 15mm Stargate to use in variety of settings (Weird War for the time being I think, till I get myself a good proxy SG team):

A quick run through:

|

The original template - From Wikipedia

Stuck on some card, and layered up.

Giving a "gunking" of sand/glue mix.

Whilst drying, I started work on a crude base. I want the gate removable, so I can place it in different locations, e.g. the SGC.

Yay! It fits!  lol

Polyerfiller to smooth it out - then sanded.

Painted!

A kind of size comparison, with some Peter Pig Germans.

Finally, the event horizon, just a quick print out, but I think looks quite nice.

I still need some Chevron "lights", any suggestions? Also, I need to work on a DHD. I understand GZG make some "Not Jaffa", do they provide suitable SG teamy types?

Comments and Criticism appreciated.

That's a great piece. The event horizon looks great. Do you have plans for a 28mm one?

looks fab,
i shouldn't think it would take that much work to up scale it to 28mm.

Great work SC :)  Looks really good!

GZG do do some troops that can be used as an SG Team.

SG15-SFE1 is the code for the "Science-Fiction Egyptians with Jackal-head helmets";
SG15-SFE5 is the code for "Assault Team (human troops in fatigues) - 4 character figures and four line grunts"; and
SG15-SFE6 is the code for "Grunts - 8 figs, 4 each of two poses (1 in helmet, 1 in cap) to reinforce assault team!"

I think they're on about the fourth page of 15mm Infantry in their online store.

How big are the GZG 15mms? I have some old 20's from Shieldwall...
I hear they're a pain to get hold of now due to all sorts of liscensing reasons.

Went on their last night, they've put a message on their news page saying they have closed shop.
Unfortunate.

At the risk of sounding trite, they're smaller than 20mm miniatures.  If you don't mind mixing sizes on the games table, they're fine, but they would look odd.

Sorry, no photos, as I passed on all my 20mm stargate stuff to someone else.

Ordered, Ordered, and Ordered.  ::)

I was looking at the sheildwall stuff, but after seeing some "dodgy" accounts of dealing with them, I steered clear. Shame they've shut up shop all together.
  :?

Any idea for Stargate themed rules?
Do you have plans for a 28mm one?

Maybe.... I'll see if I can motivate myself.

Lots of different options.

Are you familiar with the Stargate Gamers Yahoo group? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Stargate_Gamers/

There is a fair bit of stuff on there that might be of use, but for 15mm I might recommend looking at Beamstrike - http://www.neilandannettec.myby.co.uk/beamstrike.htm - which is what I'm planning to use when I finally get myself in gear with my own SG 15mm project.

That's a shame, I would have paid good money for them.  :(

They passed some nice things back at the same time, if it makes you feel any better, Rob :)
