Modern zombies question
« on: February 29, 2020, 09:00:35 PM »
Apologies if this is a subject that's already been covered.

I have a bunch of Hasslefree's awesome modern adventurer and trooper minis which, once painted, I plan to use in a zombie apocalypse game. The problem is that HF only do a handful of suitable walkers.

Does anyone know of a good scale match with an extensive range of zombies? HF are pretty true 28s with realistic proportions so big heroic scale minis won't look right.

Any scale comparison photos would be much appreciated. 👍

Cold Wars
Eureka
Studio Miniatures
Mantic

Take your pick....  ;)

If you want horde bases, then stick whatever mini you want in the middle...it really doesn’t matter once you’ve covered them in gore and dirt.

 :)

Studio Miniatures.

With William Killian (Crooked Dice).

Compare the Zombie dot com

TWD, Studio Miniatures, Crooked Dice, Warlord/Wargames Factory, TWD and TWD.

I cannot find a comparison photograph of William Killian and the "regular" size Hasslefree figures.

The Cartwright brothers are larger than previous figures, better suited to TWD.

I will see about taking some more photographs.

A shambling horde.

I think that is a Mantic one front right.

Of course TWD:AOW and TWD:CTA work well with the Cartwright brothers.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I have some of the Mantic ones for Rangers of Shadowdeep and nice as they are, they just don't scale that well with HF. Plus they're lacking in any modern reference. Maybe I'm being too pedantic.

I'm thinking that Studio miniatures might be the way to go as they look the right size and proportions to go with my modern troopers. I'm sure that HF used to sell these some years ago.

If I get any progress on this I'll post some pics to show what worked out.

Thanks all. :D >:( :-[ o_o

When it comes to scale on a 28mm zombie horde they all look the same to me once they're swarming and gribbled up. I use Mantic, CP Models (those are nice) HF zeds, Cold Wars and a few kutbashed from WF Zeds (they are massive but tend to vanish amongst the crowd). The survivors are primarily Hasslefree and the size difference doesn't bother me BUT this is your project and it does need to feel right for you, the happy hobbyist ;)
