(Kickstarter) Brigade Games upcoming Pulp/Cthulu figures
« on: March 04, 2020, 08:02:14 PM »
Don't see anyone having posted this, but thought it was worth a mention. Looks like Brigade Games has a current Kickstarter for Pulp/Cthulu figures that look promising:

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Terrible shame there is no UK/EU distributor for the KS as with Spies & Patriots. The figures look great.

The figures look very nice indeed - several are positively spectacular. I’m also a big fan of Brigade Games, and I appreciate that there are only so many pulp stereotypes. But...

A few of these figures do look ever so much like certain figures from Pulp Figures and the Thrilling Tales range, right down to poses. I feel like I’ve seen some of these before, even though they’re new sculpts. Is it just me? Sorry to be controversial  :?

Lon, I think I get Captain Blood comments. Some of the figures might be close relative to figures that already exist. On closer look I can spot a few for which I could find a closely resembling figures from other manufacturers. They are not copy by any means, just some stereotyped characters…

That being said, I’m all in and, should I add, you can’t have too much pulp figures in a collection ;)

Certainly looks like a nice and fairly comprehensive range. At some point in the nebulous future I do intend on doing some kind of Cthulhu pulp game, so this may be a good range for me.

I don't know who sculpts for Brigade,(I suspect it might be the same guy who does work for Knuckleduster) but god they can do likenesses cant they?
The deadwood range is the same; some of the best faces around - these are great, I especially like the not Igor ("its pronounced Eye - Gor")  :D

Some, yes.  Brigade have done much better with other ranges.

Trying to think of a polite way to put this, but yes... I have seen better figures.

Must say I like the Deep Ones a lot. My favourites are probably still the old Grenadier sculpts - they were the first I ever saw after reading the story, and in many ways I still think they look like that - but these come awfully close.

As for the similarity of poses, perhaps the problem really is the subject matter being the same rather than them being copies. For example, somehow it seems right that a Not Fu Manchu has his hands in his sleeves, etc. A bigger worry for me would be that some of the poses seem rather stumpy, almost like dwarfs, but maybe that's only the photo resolution...

All that said, I think it's a lovely range!

Yes, that is a favourite of mine. The only problem is that lack of evil princess!
