The Battle of Sheikh Sa'ad 1916 - The Action

Hi,

In a bid to reduce the traffic to my blog by 2/3rds I've put up the After Action Report for the WW1 Mesopotamia game we did at Christmas.

It's a real shame that there isn't more interest in this theatre of the war, it's so much more varied than the Western Front. But I shall continue my attempts at swimming uphill promoting the exploits of the British and Empire Forces (and the Turkish) in this fascinating Campaign.

So for those of you who do click the link, I've done a picture based review of our game, hopefully of interest.

The Mesopotamia collection will be back in 2021 !

Regards Ken

Looks like quite the game.

The trenches are colored to represent being soaked in crude oil?  :D

Love the figures and the game report.
Just spent some time on your blog,
looking at all your posts on the Middle East.
What a great collect of figures for the time period.
A really great treat to read your AARs.

Many thanks, there is a cunning plan mostly based around being too lazy to change the game mat  lol

Very nice. My 10mm Pendraken Mesopotamia troops have laid in their boxes for a long time. Their last outing was pretending to be Boer War troops. I did have a game set up for the Turkish raid on the Suez Canal in 1915 but the pestilence cancelled that game.

And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

That's a real shame, it's a great, often overlooked theatre of WW1, hopefully get them back on table soon, there are plenty of scenarios on the Yarkshire Gamer blog if you need any.

Mesopotamia, Palestine, Arabia - that's the best looking theater of WW2 in terms of uniforms I think.  Nice blog.   Funny that the ww1 stuff only gets about 1/3 of the traffic.  If you want to knock it down even further, start exploring the war of spanish succession.....
