Marvel Crisis Protocol (update: Nebula & Ronan)
« on: March 18, 2020, 09:15:15 AM »
I just started painting the Crisis Protocol miniatures and really loved doing them. The assembly sucks ass, but the miniatures look great and they paint up very well.
My kids could choose which ones to paint and my daughter picked Black Widow and my son Groot. Both were a blast to do and Groot went superfast, around 2 hours I think.

Black Widow

Groot

Next up will be Red Skull and Venom!

Great work. Love the battle worn look on Black Widow, much more MCU than comic!

You've done 3 more than I have as all of mine are sitting in their boxes as I cannot face putting them together but can't stop buying the releases.

God knows why they took what should have been a great entry level game and them make putting the pieces together so bloody awkward (pouches on Cap and stinger on BW spring to mind) and they're not even multi-pose!

Should have done one-piece casts like Godtear! Would have appealed to a much wider spectrum I think.

Sorry, seem to have hijacked your excellent thread! Please keep up the great work as it might help me get started!

Thanks! And yeah, at first I wanted her a bit cleaner, but I got here and I liked the effect.

I agree man. The assembly was weird and in some ways ridiculous. But I must say that I only raged at Captain Marvel and her arms. I'm so annoyed that they don't use the sprue letters to explain which part should go where. So I glued the left upper arm to the lower right and vice versa, had to correct it, stuff didn't stay in place well...RAGE! But I got there and with some plastic goop I managed to cover all up the seams.
And by now I've assembled everything I have. Even Star Lord with his 4-part head was fine by then!
But it would be waaaaaay better if they had a casting method like what Archon Gaming uses, the Unicast way. That way they would have gotten super dynamic and awesome models as single part models. That would have been the way to get more new players into the game who aren't familiar with the hobby aspect.

Thanks vikey! They are a lot of fun to paint. And I finished one more too:

We are Venom

He's one of my favourite characters so I had to get him. Super easy to assemble and loads of fun to paint. Initially I wanted him to be the black Venom with some blue and purple tones in the shadows and highlights. So I first airbrushed him for a zenithal undercoat and then applied two ink tones...and really liked the blue and purple. So instead of a black venom, he's got a lot more colour now. But I'm really happy with the final result.
For the tongue I wanted that slimy green look he sometimes had in the comics. I used some UHU glue with Vallejo Scorpion Green and added the supertacky mix with a toothpick.

Next up will be Rocket Raccoon.

And Rocket Raccoon! Fun little model and awesome to paint too.

Next will be Captain Marvel, my daughter wants me to do her next. Her wish is my command!

Thanks guys!

@Bloggard: Yes! Supereasy to do. Mix some UHU glue (the "flincke flasche" version, it contains solvents and the green version does not) with bright green paint...wait until it thickens and then apply the stringy goo. Works really well for slime and blood and other icky stuff!

And another one done...Captain Marvel! Took me a while, because I don't like blue. So I procrastinated like a pro. But in the end I enjoyed painting her a lot and had a lot of fun with the OSL. I was heavily inspired by the excellent tutorial by Sorastro in YouTube (link: )
For the base I added several printed newspapers and a bottle by Meng.

My son wants Doc Ock next. Already dreading doing those arms in NMM...
