A Ranger of Shadow Deep ~ Burning Light - The Herb Store
« on: March 22, 2020, 05:08:41 AM »
I finally got to play my first game of RoSD and I have to admit that I'm hooked. I wasn't sure what to expect and felt a bit weird playing a game by myself, but I really enjoyed it. A big part of playing games for me is to take photo's and write up narrative AAR's for my blog and RoSD provides plenty of opportunity for this. As a result I decided to start a dedicated blog to follow the adventures of my ranger.

Please have a look. I hope to keep the blog up to date frequently and post detailed good quality narrative adventures. Cheers

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Great write up, it's made me want to dig the rules out and give it a go  :)

A great sounding game you had there. I expect we will all be playing a lot more games like this over the next few months!

Yeah... Give it a go. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I think you might be right. Seems like I got started just at the right time!

Cool, I just got the pdf and am planning to get stuck in soon (I am going to modify the combat rules for my own use, though, as the randomness of the Frostgrave/Rangers system does not sit well with me, but otherwise I expect to get a lot of fun out of it).
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Thanks. I made all the terrain over a period of years.

Nice stuff! I am a longtime lurker here and terrain builder as one of my hobbies. I really like Frostgrave, so I think Rangers of Shadow Deep is going to be my next go to game. Thanks for the pics! I will be posting up a thread soon with some of my stuff, though I gotta admit, i'm nowhere near as good a painter as most of you guys.

Thanks for he kind responses folks. I'm really enjoying this game and looking forward to playing it a lot more often. I could easily play it one game after the other and get through the missions pretty fast, but I'd rather take my time, set things up, play the game, take lots of pics & do a good write up.

As it is, here is a link to scenario #2 of the first mission: https://hwyllarosd.blogspot.com/2020/03/the-infected-trees.html

Great stuff.  I like the way you have painted the figures - nice bold colours.  They are perfect for a fantasy skirmish - they really "pop" and look great on the table.
The large tree is impressive, I presume you made this yourself or is there some company making large fantasy trees?

Thanks. I made that tree about 10 years ago. It's made from a fast curing auto putty on a wire armature with a greenstuff outer layer.
