Roman Statues
« on: July 24, 2009, 10:20:52 PM »

Once upon a time there was a fine warrior.
Actually she had been the finest the ancient world had ever seen.
Her name got lost, but her reputation remained.
The Romans had erected a memorial to honour her.

Short after dawn the eternal sentinel stands guard by the side of the road between Rome and Ostia.

A few minutes later the bright sun breaks through and lights the morning.
The guard does not move a bit.

And there she stands as tall and brave like a thousand times thousand sunsets before:
The best of all - PRIMA OMNIA.

Some very interesting looking statues there - wonder who modelled for them ?

Very nice work.  But around the 300th picture it started to seem just a trifle gratuitous.

Nice, who make the figures?  ;D
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Are these 54 mm figures? Did you paint these? If so, the weathered copper has been done very nicely...excellent work. Thanks for sharing.

These are 90mm from El Viejo Dragon. The bases are scratchbuilt by me.

I like them too, but 3-5 pics would have been enough for me too! ;) ;)

Oooh, you scallywag ;)

Tell you what, I wouldn't mind a lifesize pair of those gladiator girlies on a plinth in my back garden  :-*

They'd go a treat in my shrubbery.
Such lovely verdigris.
