A Quick & Easy Terrain Board - Updated
« on: March 28, 2020, 09:15:48 AM »
I made a double sided 3'x3' terrain board using 50mm foam as the base. I made a stoney sort of surface for Frostgrave and on the other side I did a general outdoors, gassy field. All up they took me an afternoon (including coffee breaks and dental work).

Lots more detail on my blog (including the dental work): https://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2020/03/quick-nasty-and-cheap-terrain-board.html

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Board looks great. I guess there's enough PVA to stop the flock coming off. And sorry about your tooth - ouch!

Holy crap your caulk and flocking came out effective.  Well done.

I finished the board off this morning. I gave it another heavy coat of watered down pva and put it in the sun to dry for a couple of hours. Then I added a length of black gaffa tape to tidy up the edges.

The caulk was mainly to get the flock to stick initially and to break up the green of the carpet. It's the pva spray that will be doing the heavy lifting in the future.

Looks great.  I really like the use of the tile for the other side.

Thanks Syrinx0. I had another look at it and it still has a bit of a sheen so I might give it a light dry brushing to make it flatter and blend the tile edging a bit.

Just a thought, how about getting some thin foam sheets that you can lay on the table first before putting the flock side down and help to protect it even further?
