Syrian Army Uniforms
« on: March 28, 2020, 05:26:11 PM »
Here's one to ponder while we're all locked down. The Spectre skirmish has mushroomed a bit after the game at Flatpack's and I'm looking to do some Syrian regular army types to go with the recently finished tanks (got to have tanks!) but what they actually look like is proving elusive. Good old google and pintrest mainly show the militias that came to the rescue after the regular army fell apart 2013 - was thinking of using some of the chechins from Tiny Terrain, the militia from Spectre for these plus....?
Anyway back to the Syrians; I was thinking modern Soviets/Russians - Under Fire Miniatures or Tiny Terrain again.
What does anyone think?

Empress also does some decent middle eastern militia types in their universal modern set. They also do modern Russian federation troops as well.

Oh and their insurgent line also has many good mins along with Kurdish female militia.

"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Been thinking further and Paul might like this  :)
I'd completely forgotten about the universal figure that Empress do, so maybe a couple of packs with the woolly hats (for some reason the militias wear woolly hats rather than helmets) then some of the Russian packs again with woolly hats. Might work. Shame Empress don't do a bare headed version or have I missed that as well Paul?  ;)

I belive the spanish civilwar has a separate head set with out head covers. But none of them have any beards if thats what your looking for.
Their Chechnya war range might have some options for you as well.

If you want bare heads suitable for Empress moderns, have a look at Crooked Dice.

Some might not be if use, but it would be worth a look:

For the Syrian national army all the pictures i had seen showed guys in 80s/90s looking Russian equipment. So maybe some of Eurekas soviet afghan war Soviets would work?

This blogger has done some great modern stuff set in Syria and he seems to have a lot of knowledge about modern middle eastern conflicts. I think if you scroll down you should see how he did Syrian regular army troops.
