1st Corps Rolls Royce Armoured Tourer
« on: April 01, 2020, 09:01:01 PM »
I've had this 1st Corps WW1 1914 Rolls Royce Tourer for a number of years and has only being painted in the last couple of months. I asked Mark Fuller if he would sculpt a Royal Navy crew for the vehicle, needless to say, he said yes! My thanks as ever to Mark.  I added an anchor insignia to the gunner's left arm using liquid putty from Citadel.

Vehicle still needs some RN decals for the front passenger armoured screen and rear panels on both sides of the vehicle for recognition. So, if anyone can recommend decals around 8-9mm in length please let me know.

After an initial undercoat I gave an overall coat of Brunt Sienna before starting on the basic layers and highlights. Unfortunately, most of the highlights have been washed away when taking the photo. I'm just after a wargaming vehicle and not exploring any ideas of exact painting or modelling.

The vehicle crew are mainly painted with Foundry colours and hence the satin finish which I'm pleased with. I like the toy soldier look.

As ever, appreciate you passing by.

Looks splendid.
I think Letraset used to do plain white lettering in assorted sizes, but not sure that either they are still in business or that you could just buy R & N. Would a stencil be a possible answer? If so you need to find a home card-craft person with a Cricut or Scan'n'cut stencil machine, they can do customised stencils (and are often desperate to find a use for their machine). If you are near a craft shop (when they re-open) that stocks them you might be able to persuade the shop to do you one as a "demo".

Will you be doing a cap tally for the gunner too?

Thanks all for your kind words.

@Fastolfrus, thanks on the idea of a craft shop. There is a  Cap Tally on the gunner's hat. After I'd highlighted the tally I gave it a diluted wash which tampered down the highlighted area. Thanks.

I need to clean my screen - impossible to see any detail with the assorted marks & dusty bits.
Or it could be my glasses

Helen, sterling work, inspirational! I second the press type for your markings. Very handy stuff indeed.
