28mm sci fi sculpts - Big mutant sculpted, cast and painted!
« on: April 08, 2020, 06:53:39 PM »
I was able to sculpt this chap up yesterday, based on a piece of art from my rule system Planet 28.
He's exactly 30mm from top to bottom - I envision him as a power armored mercenary/breacher.
It may be a little while before he sees silicone, But he and others should be in production in the near future.

If you fancy checking out planet 28 you can grab it on wargames vault or join us in the planet 28 facebook group.

I like him. Probably not what you intend but with a bit of conversion and a weapon swap I see a wonderful Labyrinth Goblin in there!

I couldn't resist casting up a personal copy of the sculpt for myself so i bused out the hotmelt rubber and got to work - A very rough cast that needed alot of fixing BUt i got a paintable mini out of it to show off. Gave him a quick and simple paintjob over breakfast this morning.
So here is breacher mercenary "ned" in his K3ll-I armour.

I spent a couple of hours sculpting this little chap today - He's very obviously inspired by the latest piece of artwork put out by the warhammer community team, showing off some new alien species.

I figured he'd make a cool mini and a fun little challenge, So i set to it. Overall he took about 2 and a half hours, which is pretty damn fast for me. (the joys of alien anatomy, you can cut alot of corners.)

I think he came out quite well and he might see a mould soon.

That's pretty cool! There's a real shortage of interesting, non-humanoid aliens out there. I feel you've done a good job of sculpting to the art without being a direct copy.

That looks super-cool.  Quick work on that too.

Very cool and creepy.

The fourth sculpt in the range - A gun-slinging one eyed mutant. who needs depth perception when you've got a brace of pistols?!

Really happy with his this chap turned out - He's built over a 1:1:1 skeleton of sculpey/fimo/beesputty which made an excellent hard base to add greenstuff onto. that may be my go to method from now on.

I'm aiming to kickstart a run of 5 sculpts around july.

Very happy with how he turned out, He really matched the artwork from the rulebook!

Nice. Love the mutant and the alien. I guess the mutant is named Frank?

That's the plan - possibly in the next two months if all goes well :)

Nice. Love the mutant and the alien. I guess the mutant is named Frank?

Or Danny.  :D

I also finished this chap a little while ago - he's a bit moebius, A sort of travelling psychic.
I'm probably going to resculpt his face.
