Faerie Meat
« on: July 29, 2009, 01:13:11 PM »
Hi All,
have any of you come across the above game?
It's a tabletop skirmish game between "gangs" of canabalistic faeries who obtain the skills of oponents that they kill and eat - hence the title. It's set at 1:1 scale and you can play across any surface as the faeries battle it out in your home!
At least that's what I remember it was a year or so ago that I first saw a link!

I can't remember who publishes it and web searches are coming up blank.

Any leads greatfully received

I think it's Kerr and King.

I also think it's out of print. Huge shame as it looked like loads of fun.

I think Vikotnic had a show on Do or Dice two last year. The players were served a breakfast at the table while their faeries were battling it out between toast and tea. Looked really funny.

I've got a bunch of the minis (Steve Buddles best IMO) and a copy of the initial rules. Haven't actually played it yet, but stuff comes up regularily on ebay.

I think it was Kenzer that published it, but I'll check when I get home.

Think your trouble finding it has to do with the difference between the British and American spelling of "Fairy" vs. "Faerie"

It's still in print and available as pdfs

yup kenzer and co, always get em mixed up with kerr and king for some odd reason.

I thought Faerie was the traditional form (as in fae creatures) and fairy is just what english english has turned the original word into?

Got a copy from Spirit Games UK , last year - hav'nt played it yet, looks fun , light hearted , uses a pack of cards - sort of trumps, for combat resolutions if I remember rightly . Only about 4-6 figs per side , was going to use some Foundry (rather nubile) faeries I once got cheap on bring and buy stall .

I have it and we play several times a year. I have many of the original figures plus other faireis from other manufacturers. The game is still in print at www.kenzerco.com/index.php?cPath=34_63 . you can order hardcopy online or PDF. The figure company is no longer in bussiness but we are having fun making convertions.

Thanks for the info guys.
I love the idea of playing the game whilst having breakfast - but I think after dinner with port and cigars would be good too!

Mosstrooper - that was my idea too - the Foundry Nymphs look to be perfect for the game, I was thinking two of the character packs for leaders and two packs of the nymphs should be a decent starting level and not too pricey now Caliver sells them.

The Foundry figures are very nice , but a bit of a challenge to paint - easier to paint up rough hairy soldiers than slender faeires

Great game, with a really simple system.
i have all of the books in hard copy on my shelf (apart from WAR, i have that in PDF), a couple of minis from the box set (crikey they were expensive over here.)

They did a post apoc game called "Final Days" on the same card draw based system.
 :)
its a fun game, but as you say, finding miniatures for it is difficult, i think reaper do some good ones, and there are a few from hero clix that would be good with a re paint (wasp for one)

A lot of elf figures work well with wings added. Dark elves are really great to convert. I just pull the plastic wings off of plastic flies & wasps then attach them to my figures. Just this week I found some insect toys at a Dollartree store called Bling Bugs. The wings have colorful sparkles imbedded in them.
