Last Stand In Sudan
« on: April 24, 2020, 11:31:20 PM »
Getting set up for a full out last stand/Rorkes Drift style Sudan game tonight.

A combo of TSATF and Chris Feree's "Jolly Deadly 'ol Boy" Rorkes Drift rules.

Will post pics and summary.  Basicaly, 30 defenders vs 140 Mahdists in units of 20.

Oh I think this could get messy.
Good luck with the game.

Those multi-bases sure look handy for a game like this. Nice one, Smokey.

As I recall there was an affair a bit like this in the early part of the rebellion on the Red Sea coast. A small number of Sudanese infantry managed to fend off Osman Digna and his fuzzy-haired horde from a fortified position. No Brits involved in that one, though, it was before they showed up.

If history is anything to go by I'd guess those Egyptians are in trouble.

Love your set-up, Smokey - the figures and table look great, and I'm sure movement bases like that do make gaming with hordes much more pleasant. As for actual events, weren't the garrisons in Tokar and Sinkat in situations like this? My Sudan-fu is a little rusty these days, but I'm thinking it was them. There were others, I'm sure...

Looking forward to seeing more!

A scratchbuilder they call SmokeyRone  :)

Here is a closeup of the barracks and tower.  The pretty interior tile, that was the wifes suggestion

This is the repaired wall.   Cut up blocks from foamboard, then glued individually.

Nice job.  That looks very realistic.

Hope that wasn't the kitchen cutting board...  lol

Smokey, beautiful table buddy!!! How did the game turn out? Did the stalwart Brits and Gyppies hold out?

Your wife's advice is worth seeking out.

My own better half carved me up a treat yesterday in a Sudan game:
